What we’re fighting for

'Fund the Arts’ wants to improve Australia’s arts and culture by pushing for a $2.5bn increase in funding, and policy changes that will benefit all sectors of the arts.

  • More Australian content

We want more Australian content on our screens, speakers, walls, stages, and pages. At the moment there’s around 2 percent Australian content on Video on demand services like Netflix.

We want to lift those quotas to 20 percent and to make producing Australian content more viable, $300mn extra funding to the ABC, and a $1bn Australian content platform where all Australian arts and culture can live and be stored for posterity.

  • Support the next wave of Australian artists

To have a vibrant art and culture befitting a modern nation we need to support new artists coming through with programs of support which will benefit all art, including in regional Australia.

We want an additional $83mn in funding for Creative Fellowships, an extra $150mn in funding for the RISE program, and $200mn per annum to help subsidise arts lessons (music, theatre, visual arts) for kids in our suburbs, cities, and rural Australia.

  • Support small and local arts

Our arts and culture must start somewhere, and for many artists its at the local level. We want to ensure small and local arts bodies get the funding that will help them to thrive not just survive.

We’re pushing for $133mn for the Australia Council to fund for small to medium cultural organisations & peer reviewed funding, $50mn for community broadcasting, and $20mn for regional arts funding.
